Kenny Hill Set Aside For Sliding

PATTEN, Nov. 27- 1949

Joseph McGillicuddy, town manager, has announced that beginning Monday, Willow street, from Cedar street to the residence of Mrs. Mabel Philpott, will be closed to traffic as a sliding place for children .Manager McGillicuddy has asked for co-operation of local motorists in making this a safe place for children to coast, saying that it was only fair to give the child- ren this section of the street for their own, for a local ruling pro- vides that the children's sleds shall be taken from them if they are caught coasting on any of the other streets in the village. The hill on Willow street, known locally as Kenny's hill, has been a sliding paradise for at least three generations of Patten child- ren, and if motorists will co- operate by using the lower end of the street, it will save the town the cost of a watchman on the hill, the town manager said.
